Local logs are coming

Your conversations should be yours alone. With this the upcoming update, Retro Messenger introduces encrypted chat logs:

• Each message you send or receive can be stored safely on disk, encrypted with a key derived from your password.

• Without the correct password, logs cannot be decrypted, not even by another user on the same system.

• If the wrong password is supplied, Retro Messenger will refuse to open the file, keeping your private chats safe.

New button selections allow for users to choose if logs are saved to disk before a password is inputted. This password cannot be changed, and if forgotten, everything in the logs folder will need to be deleted. The password will also be needed to load the logs into memory, ensuring the user’s privacy is not compromised, and that logs are not saved if they do not wish them to be.
